Accreditation

All baccalaureate and graduate business programs in the Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Business Graduate Academic Standards

In order to remain in good academic standing, a student must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Additionally, grades below a “C” will not count towards program completion and will affect the GPA as a failing grade. Courses in the graduate business programs can only be attempted two (2) times. Failing to successfully pass a core class after two (2) attempts will result in an automatic required withdrawal. Students who are suspended from the School for academic reasons in accordance with this policy may apply for readmission, after one (1) academic year (3 semesters).

Appeal Process

  • Write a letter of application for readmission to the program director. Letters will be submitted to the Graduate and Online Coordinator for distribution.
  • The program director will determine if readmission will be allowed.
  • Additional appeals can be submitted to the Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business Associate Dean.

Note: Appeals for returning students must be received no later than two (2) weeks prior to the first day of classes for a given term.

Information is available online at www.suu.edu/business/graduate/academic-standing.html.

Note: If a student leaves the University while on probation, they will remain on probation when they return-even if in the meantime they have attended another institution. While on probation, students may be ineligible to receive financial aid and may be ineligible to participate in extracurricular activities sponsored by the University. For more information on these restrictions, see Tuition & Financial Aid  and the Southern Utah University Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy .

Internships

Regional companies and governmental institutions provide exceptional opportunities for students to develop business skills in a “professional” environment. In addition, students may complete internships overseas or spend a semester or year abroad. Students’ internship assignments are jointly supervised by company management and SUU faculty members. Academic credit is awarded for internships and financial compensation is usually available.
