Program Learning Outcomes

  • Acquire the ability to place works of art/design in historical, cultural, stylistic and theoretical/critical contexts, both in relation to the general history of the field and the specific history of their area of specialization.
  • Develop an understanding of the common elements and vocabulary of art/design and of the interaction of these elements and be able to employ this information in analysis.
  • Gain functional competence in organizing, preparing, and displaying exhibition materials and relevant display information.
  • Be afforded opportunities to participate in the preparation and installation of art exhibitions.
  • Acquire working knowledge of technologies, processes, and practices involved in exhibiting a full range two and three-dimensional artworks.
  • Demonstrate competency in research and critical argument, as well as an entry-level professional competency in analytical writing.
  • Work independently on a variety of exhibition problems by combining, as appropriate to the issue, their capabilities in studio, analysis, history, and technology.

  • All courses must be passed with a “C” (2.0) or better to be counted in the minor.
