Program Learning Outcomes
- Students will recognize the basic legal, constitutional, ethical, and moral challenges confronting criminal justice personnel.
- Students will identify the functions, operations, and challenges of the U.S. Criminal Justice System, including law enforcement, courts, and corrections.
Program Information
- No more than 3 credits of internship (CJ 4890 ) can be counted toward the minor. Up to 12 credits can be counted toward the student’s overall degree total.
Program Prerequisites
The Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice strongly recommends that students complete the following courses as part of their General Education requirements, as they are prerequisites for required major courses. Students who do not complete these courses as part of General Education can potentially add additional credits and time to their degree.

Criminal Justice Minor Curriculum (18 Credits)
- No more than 6 credits of lower-division criminal justice courses (numbered 1000-2999) may be counted toward the credit requirement for the minor.
- All CJ classes count as CJ electives.
- All CJ minors are encouraged to complete an internship as part of their degree.
- The following courses may be taken as CJ elective credit toward the minor:
