Technical Writing Certificate

The Technical Writing Certificate must be completed in conjunction with a degree-bearing program (B.S. or B.A.). Students are encouraged to combine this certificate with a major or minor in a scientific or technical field.

Required Courses (12 credits)

ENGL 1120 - Introduction to Grammar 3 credits
ENGL 2040 - Writing in Professional Contexts 3 credits
COMM 1130 - Writing for Communications 3 credits
COMM 4240 - Technical Writing 3 credits

Elective Courses (6 credits)

Select 6 credits from the following:

ENGL 3120 - Writing in the Sciences 3 credits
ENGL 3890 - Writing Tutor Practicum 1 or 3 credits
ENGL 4970 - Literary Journal Editing 1 to 2 credits
COMM 3070 - Communication Graphics 3 credits
COMM 3080 - Advertising, Copywriting & Layout 3 credits
