Master of Education Degree (M.Ed.) (36 Credits)

In addition to the minimum requirements, applicants to this program must also submit the following:

• Proof of 2 years of paid full-time teaching experience
• Proof of current Utah level I teaching license or equivalent
• One letter of reference from most recent education supervisor (superintendent or principal)

Core Requirements (24 Credits)

• EDUC 6000 - Issues in Psychology & Measurement 3 credits
• EDUC 6010 - 21st Century Learning Spaces 3 credits
• EDUC 6030 - 21st Century Research & Data 3 credits
• EDUC 6410 - History of Education Philosophy 3 credits
• EDUC 6650 - Master of Education Thesis Proposal Writing 3 credits OR EDUC 6652 - M.Ed. Portfolio Writing  3 credits
• EDUC 6740 - School Law 3 credits
• EDUC 6910 - 21st Century Master Teacher 3 credits
• EDUC 6932 - Capstone M.Ed. Portfolio 3 credits OR EDUC 6933 - Capstone Master of Education Thesis  3 credits *
• 12 credit hours of Electives (May be selected from graduate-level endorsement courses or from other SUU graduate programs with approval of the M.Ed. Program Director.)
• EDUC 6931 - Capstone M. E.d Seminar 1 credits

Note

All core and elective courses must be completed prior to the Capstone Project.

*M.Ed. candidates who do not successfully complete the Capstone requirements (portfolio or thesis) by the end of the semester in which they registered for their Capstone course must continuously enroll in EDUC 6931 - Capstone M. E.d Seminar  (1 credit) until their Capstone Project has been accepted as complete by program faculty.  Candidates pursuing the thesis track should meet with their Thesis Committee Chair for advisement and request to enroll in EDUC 6933 - Capstone Master of Education Thesis  for the semester they will defend their thesis project.
