Social Science Composite Mission Statement
Southern Utah University offers a composite degree in social sciences for those who are seeking licensure in secondary education. The composite degree offers the possibility of employment in several social science disciplines.

University Requirements
NOTE: As of 7/12/2019, students pursuing this bachelor’s degree are no longer required to complete the Experiential Education Requirement courses for graduation.
Experiential Education Requirement - EDGE (1-3 Credits)

Required Courses (52 credits minimum in social sciences):
Complete 18-credit minimum requirement in history:
A minimum of 10 credits is required in Geography.
A minimum of 24 credits is required from Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology or Anthropology.
Choose from the following courses:
Free Electives (21 Credits)
- Free Electives 21 Credits (includes completing B.A./B.S. requirement)
- Free Electives may be taken (to complete BA/BS requirements, recommended free electives from the Department, etc.) as required to reach 120 total credits.
- Additional credits to reach the minimum of 52 will be from electives in the social sciences subjects.
Total Credits, B.S. degree: 120
Note
Teaching License Information: SOSC 4900 , SOSC 4980 , and HIST 3870 - History of Utah are required to receive a teaching license in Utah.
No grade below a C- is acceptable toward this major.
Any SOC or ANTH upper division 3 credit course will satisfy requirement.
