Graduate Gifted & Talented Endorsement

The Utah State Office of Education requirements for the Gifted and Talented Endorsement have recently undergone a complete overhaul to meet the new standards of the National Association for Gifted Children. Please contact the Department of Teacher Education, Director of Graduate Studies in Education for further information.

Requirements (16 Credits)

In addition to the minimum requirements, applicants to this program must also submit:

Proof of teaching license or equivalent
One letter of reference from most recent education supervisor (superintendent or principal)

Required courses (12 credits)

EDUC 5420 / EDUC 6420 - Education of the Gifted & Talented 3 credits
EDUC 5460 / EDUC 6460 - Identification/Evaluation in Gifted Education 3 credits
EDUC 5480 / EDUC 6480 - Materials/Methods in Gifted Education 3 credits
EDUC 5450 / EDUC 6450 - Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted and Talented Learners 3 credits

Electives (4 credits)

EDUC 5445 / EDUC 6445 - Leadership of Gifted and Talented Programs: Capstone Practicum 3 credits
EDUC 6440 - Creativity in Education 3 credits
EDUC 6380 - Ethics for Educational Leaders 3 credits
G/T Conference or other elective as approved by Department 1 credit

Total: 16 Credits
