Program Summary

The Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with a Pre-Athletic Training Emphasis is designed to prepare students to apply for and be admitted to a post-baccalaureate CAATE Accredited Athletic Training Professional Program to then work in the allied healthcare profession of Athletic Training. The Athletic Training Emphasis includes courses designed to build progressively upon each other as students begin with more general anatomical and physiological courses that are most commonly included as prerequisite courses to be admitted into an accredited Athletic Training Professional Program and advance through a variety of methods courses that build a solid foundation for any student interested in a career in any allied healthcare profession (PT, OT, etc.). It is important to note that individual CAATE accredited Athletic Training Professional Programs, as well as other types of graduate programs, may have unique admission requirements and pre-requisites; thus students should review requirements for all programs to which they plan to apply well in advance and plan accordingly. Those wishing to teach and coach in the public schools should enroll in the Physical Education - Teaching Emphasis (B.S.)  or Physical Education - Coaching Emphasis (B.S.)  programs to ensure proper progress toward obtaining teaching licensure.
