Program Summary
Software development is an in-demand and high-paying field and is an ideal career path for driven individuals with technical aptitude. This certificate in software development is designed to teach the technical skill set and provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge to confidently move forward in the world of software development.
The demand for web developers is already high and it is only expected to continue rising over the next decade. Driving the demand for web developers is the explosion in Internet usage. With so many people online, businesses need to have a web presence to remain viable. This applies to all businesses, regardless of their size or industry; even the smallest local shops are now jumping online to make their presence known. Web developers provide businesses with the unique, engaging websites they need to connect with customers. Thanks to the high demand for professional websites, a career in web development is considered “future proof,” meaning it will continue to be a valuable line of work well into the future.
Program Information
- All courses must be passed with a “C-” (1.7) or better to be counted in the certificate.
- Credits older than 10 years must be approved by the CSCY Department Chair before being allowed to count towards the major due to the rapid change in the industry.
Certificate Completion
This certificate program must be completed in conjunction with a degree program. The certificate will be awarded at the same time as the degree program and cannot be earned independently of a degree.
