Software Development - Mobile App Development (Certificate)

Program Summary

Software development is an in-demand and high-paying field and is an ideal career path for driven individuals with technical aptitude. This certificate in software development is designed to teach the technical skill set and provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge to confidently move forward in the world of software development. 

More than half of the world’s population uses a smartphone. These courses can allow a student to develop mobile application development skills enough to assist in a role that involves working with app developers or mobile device manufacturers. Such roles may not directly involve coding but may benefit from some knowledge of popular app development coding languages and practices. If a student is interested in designing their own mobile app, these courses will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to do so. There is a high demand for mobile app developers and currently a very low supply in the industry.

Program Information

• All courses must be passed with a “C-” (1.7) or better to be counted in the certificate.
• Credits older than 10 years must be approved by the CSCY Department Chair before being allowed to count towards the major due to the rapid change in the industry.

Certificate Completion

This certificate program must be completed in conjunction with a degree program. The certificate will be awarded at the same time as the degree program and cannot be earned independently of a degree.
