Program Summary

The Music Minor offers students with an interest and talent in music to further their studies and continue developing their musical skills. Students minoring in music receive the basics in music theory, participate in ensembles, improve their piano skills, and take music electives to enhance their avocation of music.

Program Information

Ensembles: All minors must be a member of one of the following ensembles in their applied emphasis for two semesters: MUSC 3320 - Wind Symphony , MUSC 3350 - Opus Chamber Choir , MUSC 3360 - Concert Choir , or MUSC 3380 - Symphony Orchestra .
Piano Proficiency: Students must pass a piano proficiency exam. MUSC 1150 - Class Piano I and MUSC 1160 - Class Piano II may be taken to assist in preparation for the exam.
To fulfill all graduation requirements, all zero (0) credit courses must appear on the transcript.

Play and accompany simple folk songs by ear, in any key.
Transfer theory and skills concepts to the keyboard.
