Program Information

  • To qualify for technique classes that are level II or above requires a placement audition or Departmental approval regardless of minor status.

Dance Minor Curriculum (18 Credits)

Program Learning Outcomes


A successful student will:

  • Demonstrate a beginning-level proficiency in multiple dance disciplines, an intermediate-level in few, or an advanced-level in one.
  • Analyze the historical, physical, and sociopolitical development of dance as a global art form.
  • Employ basic principles of improvisation and composition as tools for choreography.
  • Apply basic knowledge of human movement and anatomy to dance practice.
  • Possess working knowledge of one or more advanced topics related to the dance field: teaching methods, music fundamentals for dance, dance history, or dance kinesiology.
