Program Information

All courses must be passed with a “C” (2.0) or better to be counted in the major.
All prerequisite courses must be passed with a “C” (2.0) or better.
Credits older than 10 years must be approved by the CSIS Department Chair before being allowed to count towards the degree due to the rapid change in the industry.
Computer Science majors must take the approved comprehensive national examination in computer science during their senior year, passing with a score in at least the 25th percentile. This test is generally taken during CS 4800 - CS Capstone Project .
Computer Science is recommended for students who seek careers in computer science or who wish to pursue graduation education.

Program Prerequisites

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems strongly recommends that students complete the following courses as part of their General Education requirements, as they are prerequisites for required major courses. Students who do not complete these courses as part of General Education can potentially add additional credits and time to their degree.

BIOL 1610 - General Biology I & BIOL 1615 - General Biology Lab I (can be used to fulfill General Education Life Sciences Knowledge Area)
Either CHEM 1210 - Principles of Chemistry I & CHEM 1215 - Principles of Chemistry I Lab or PHYS 2210 - Physics for Scientists and Engineers I & PHYS 2215 - Physics for Scientists and Engineers I Lab (either can be used to fulfill General Education Physical Sciences Knowledge Area)
CSIS 1010 - E-Commerce in a Global Society (can be used to fulfill General Education Social and Behavioral Sciences Knowledge Area)
MATH 1210 - Calculus I * (can be used to fulfill General Education Quantitative Literacy)
