Graduate Gifted & Talented Endorsement

The Utah State Office of Education requirements for the Gifted and Talented Endorsement have recently undergone a complete overhaul to meet the new standards of the National Association for Gifted Children. Specific courses to meet the program changes are in the process of approval at SUU. They should be ready for implementation in the Fall 2012 semester. Please contact the Department of Teacher Education, Director of Graduate Studies in Education for further information.

Requirements (15 Credits)

In addition to the minimum requirements, applicants to this program must also submit:

Proof of teaching license or equivalent
One letter of reference from most recent education supervisor (superintendent or principal)

Recommended sequence of courses:

EDUC 6420 - Education of the Gifted & Talented 2 credits
EDUC 6430 - Practicum: Individual Case Study 1 credits
EDUC 6440 - Creativity in Education 3 credits
EDUC 6460 - Identification/Evaluation in Gifted Education 2 credits
EDUC 6470 - Practicum: Team Consultation 1 credits
EDUC 6480 - Materials/Methods in Gifted Education 2 credits
EDUC 6490 - Practicum: Classroom Applications 1 credits
EDUC 6380 - Ethics for Educational Leaders 3 credits

5000 level courses are available for SUU/School District GT Endorsement Professional Learning Community Programs.
