Academic English (Minor)

Program Information

Students are required to pass the following courses (or equivalent placement by exam) before they can enroll in higher-level courses:

Complete two of the following:

Students will be able to read and interpret academic texts from a variety of disciplines, noting length, complexity, and time constraints.
Students will be able to listen and process academic spoken discourse (such as lectures, meetings, presentations), identifying main ideas and key details.
Students will be able to participate orally in large and small group discussion, and they will be able to deliver oral presentations based on academic content.
Students will be able to write in academic genres using information from sources and from personal experience.
Students will demonstrate proficiency in comprehending, using, and learning general academic and discipline specific vocabulary.
Students will employ effective cultural and intercultural communication strategies in academic contexts.
