Note: The Committee on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education allows individual Master of Athletic Training programs to determine which biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, and physiology courses adequately serve as prerequisites. Individual programs may also elect to require additional prerequisite courses. Thus, students should consult with individual programs when determining which courses are best to complete in preparation to apply for Master of Athletic Training programs. Complete at least 12 credits from the following: Free Electives and University Requirements
Students’ total free elective credit is determined by their General Education courses taken, degree type selected (if applicable), additional credits earned, and any additional math or other prerequisite courses needed. Some students and/or programs may not have any free electives. For a bachelor’s degree, students must earn - A minimum of 120 total credits;
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in both SUU coursework and combined transfer/SUU coursework;
- 40 upper-division credits , 20 of which are earned from SUU (students may need to select additional upper-division courses not included in their major requirements in order to reach this minimum 40); and
- 30 credits completed through SUU.

Program Learning Outcomes
- Understand the importance and influence of physical activity and exercise on health and become an advocate for physically active lifestyles as a means to improve quality of life and reduce the risk and prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases.
- Demonstrate a sound foundational knowledge and understanding of the applied and basic sciences as they relate to responses and adaptations to physical activity and exercise among the apparently healthy, diseased, and athletic population.
- Perform basic laboratory skills pertaining to assessments, laboratory methods, sound experimental and analytical practices, data acquisition, and reporting in the exercise sciences.
- Develop foundational knowledge in injury evaluation, diagnosis, immediate care, and rehabilitation in preparation for continued education in Athletic Training or other related allied healthcare fields.
