Nursing - RN to BSN Emphasis (BSN) / Master of Science in Nursing in Leadership and Administration (MSN)

Program Information

Nursing - RN to BSN Emphasis (BSN)

  • All courses must be passed with a “C” (2.0) or better to be counted in the major.
  • This program requires the completion of MATH 1031 - Statistical Reasoning  or MATH 1040 - Statistical Inference . Students who are not prepared for this math course, or have not completed this requirement prior to starting at SUU, may need additional math credits/preparation, which may affect time to graduation. Please consult your Student Success Advisor for more information.

Master of Science in Nursing in Leadership and Administration (MSN)

  • Graduate students must complete their program within six (6) years of matriculation.
  • All courses must be passed with a minimum grade of “B-” (2.7) to count in the program. Any failed course (“F” or “UW”) may result in dismissal from the program.
  • Students must earn a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 to graduate. Students who fail to maintain a 3.0 GPA average may be dismissed from the program.

Nursing - RN to BSN Emphasis (B.S.N.)


General Education (0-28+ Credits)


An Associate of Science (AS) degree from a Utah State Institution (USHE) satisfies General Education/pre-admission requirements if the degree includes the American Institutions Requirement (see General Education ) and either MATH 1031 - Statistical Reasoning  or MATH 1040 - Statistical Inference . If not, these courses must be taken prior to graduation. All other degree types will be evaluated on an individual basis. Some or all of the General Education classes may need to be completed before students can graduate.

Free Upper-Division Electives (10 Credits)


  • Complete a minimum of 10 credits of upper-division electives (courses numbered 3000-4999). This requirement may be fulfilled by credits earned prior to matriculation into the RN to BSN program.

Program Learning Outcomes


RN to BSN

  1. Students will integrate, translate and apply nursing knowledge as well as knowledge from other disciplines in nursing practice.
  2. Students will demonstrate respect for a client’s beliefs, values, and knowledge while providing holistic, individualized care.
  3. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the population healthcare delivery continuum from public health prevention to disease management of populations.
  4. Students will describe collaborative activities with both traditional and non-traditional partnerships to promote the improvement of equitable population health outcomes.
  5. Students will participate in the scholarship of nursing, integrate best evidence into nursing practice, and promote the ethical conduct of scholarly activities.
  6. Students will analyze system effectiveness and individual performance to enhance quality and minimize risk of harm to patients and providers.
  7. Employ intentional collaboration across professions and with care team members, patients, families, communities, and other stakeholders to optimize care, enhance the healthcare experience, and strengthen outcomes.
