Public Lands and National Parks Studies (Minor)

Program Summary

The minor in Public Lands and National Parks Studies (PLNP) is an interdisciplinary program offered by the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The interdisciplinary nature of the program includes coursework from various disciplines. The objective of the Public Lands and National Parks Studies minor is to familiarize students to concepts and practices of stewardship, conservation, and preservation relative to national parks, forests, refuges, historic sites, nature conservancies, and other unappropriated lands. The Public Lands and National Parks minor provides unique learning opportunities for those who appreciate our nation’s public lands and/or those aspiring towards a career with a federal, state, or non-profit land management agency.

• All courses must be passed with a “C-” (1.7) or better to be counted in the minor.
• Courses marked with an asterisk (*) require additional prerequisites not included in the minor.
