Agriculture - Livestock Farm Management (A.A.S.)



Program Summary

Agriculture students gain a broad education in agriculture and an opportunity to emphasize their area of greatest interest through extensive hands-on and face-to-face educational opportunities at SUU’s 800-acre farm and 2,800-acre ranch. Along with the main areas of focus, the degree may include equine science, horticulture, and pre-veterinary medicine. Students become qualified for a wide variety of agriculture industry-based careers

Program Information

  • All courses must be passed with a “C-” (1.7) or better to be counted in the major.
  • Courses over 10 years old will not be accepted in the major.
  • Students are strongly encouraged to consult their advisor before selecting coursework. Some courses are only taught one semester per year or every other year.

Associate of Applied Science General Education Requirement (15-18 Credits)


For an Associate of Applied Science degree, 15-18 credit hours are required in the following areas:

  • One course in the English core (ENGL 1010 , ENGL 1010E , or ENGL 2010 )
  • One course in the Quantitative Literacy (Mathematics) core
  • One course in American Institutions
  • One course from either the Humanities or Social and Behavioral Sciences Knowledge area (minimum of 3 credits)
  • One course from one of the remaining five Knowledge Areas (minimum of 3 credits)

Agriculture - Livestock Farm Management Curriculum (47 Credits)


Production/Management Courses (10 Credits)


Select 10 credits from those listed below. Students must select at least one (1) production and one (1) management course. Students should consult with their faculty advisor. Under special circumstances and with faculty advisor consent, students may fulfill the balance of the production/management requirement by submitting an AGSC prefix course not listed below.

Practicum/Internship (8 Credits)


Complete 8 credits from the following:
