In addition, this degree develops students’ understanding of and skill in producing lens-based images in contemporary culture. The coursework emphasizes visual literacy by educating the students’ viewpoints and equipping them with the skills needed to develop, progress, and execute their ideas. This degree teaches design, lighting, color, darkroom techniques, medium and large format cameras, alternative photographic processes, photographic history, and other various photographic genres. The Department of Art and Design has a committed faculty of practicing artists who guide and involve their students in many small groups and individual endeavors that promote aesthetic and critical thought and skills.
