Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate behaviors and dispositions consistent with the ethics and values of a healthcare professional.
- Employ techniques for clinical evaluation and diagnosis of athletic injuries and illnesses.
- Evaluate and incorporate current research evidence to guide clinical decision making.
- Explain and apply theoretical and practical application of therapeutic modalities and other physical rehabilitation concepts for the benefit of restoring patients’ health related quality of life.
- Explain and demonstrate appropriate emergency procedures and immediate care of life-threatening conditions common to physical activity.
- Properly apply prophylactic taping and bracing to active individuals for the purpose of injury prevention and facilitation of physical activity.
- Understand and demonstrate concepts associated with athletic training administration including effectively communicating with athletes, coaches, administrators, and other healthcare professionals.
Program Information
- All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0) or higher to count in the degree.
- Students must earn a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 to graduate. Students who fail to maintain a 3.0 GPA average may be dismissed from the program.
- Graduate courses cannot be repeated more than once.
- Students will have a maximum of three (3) years to complete the MAT degree. Should extenuating circumstances arise, a student may petition the SUU MAT Program Director for a time extension to complete the degree requirements.
