Elementary Education Curriculum Requirements


Teacher candidates need to apply for admission to the College of Education during their sophomore year. Transfer students must attend one semester to establish the minimum 3.0 GPA for admittance. (See Admission Procedures)

Requirements (30-37 credits):


Courses should be taken in this order whenever possible to complete the program in a timely manner.

Courses Requiring Admission to the Teacher Education Program (15 Credits)


Teaching Candidates must be admitted to the Initial Teacher Education Program to take the following required courses. (See Admission Procedures)

Elementary Education Block (15 Credits)


Student must be admitted to the College of Education and Human Development Professional Teacher Education Program, taken all required elementary education courses and passed the Praxis Elementary Education Content Knowledge.  Students must apply for the Block Program one semester prior to admission to Block courses.

Students are strongly encouraged to consult their advisor before making course work selections. 

If a student graduates with an Elementary Education major and then returns to college to pursue an optional endorsement, concentration, or specialization, the student may not be eligible for federal financial aid.

Total Credits, BA Degree: 124-126 with Foreign Language Requirement (less than 124-126 credits if a language proficiency test is used for credit)
