EDRG 2710 - Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Written Expression 3 Credit(s) | $7.50 Fee
This course focuses on the development of vocabulary, reading comprehension, and written expression in elementary students. Teacher candidates will learn strategies to support morphological awareness, vocabulary acquisition, as well as techniques for fostering deep comprehension of both narrative and informational texts. Through a practicum experience, the course will emphasize evidence-based practices for teaching comprehension strategies, including text structure, inferencing, and summarization. Additionally, it explores the connection between reading and writing, equipping candidates with tools for guiding students in written expression, from sentence construction to multi-paragraph writing.
