MFT 6310 - Trauma and Crisis Intervention in Marriage & Family Therapy

This course provides advanced training in systemic approaches to trauma and crisis intervention, emphasizing both family-centered perspectives and evidence-based treatment models. Students will develop skills in trauma-informed assessment, crisis planning, and the application of interventions in diverse clinical contexts. Special attention is given to the use of telehealth in trauma work, including practice simulations, ethical and legal considerations, and adaptations for rural and underserved populations. Students will also engage in experiential learning through role-plays, case studies, and applied projects, fostering integration of theory and practice. Professional self-care and reflective practice are emphasized to prepare students for sustainable clinical work with individuals, couples, and families impacted by trauma.
