ORPT 1525 - Bouldering

2 Credit(s)

With an emphasis on movements rather than vertical elevation gain, bouldering represents a unique discipline in the rock-climbing universe. This class will provide instruction on climbing positions and movements specific to bouldering as they pertain to improving your ability to boulder more difficult grades as well as providing insight into the ethics and issues that face the bouldering community. This class will provide information important to transition from indoor to outdoor climbing. Students should anticipate and be prepared to climb at least up to a head level of 12 feet (3.6 meters) without the protection of a rope. Protection is provided through bouldering pads as well as active spotters. The course will include 3 required Saturday field trips. (Fall, Spring) [Graded (Standard Letter)]
