ANTH 4030 - Archaeology Stewardship 3 Credit(s)
ANTH 4030 examines the stewardship of cultural resources on public lands and the presentation of archaeological information to the public. In this course we explore the broad range of laws that govern archaeological research on public lands. We also address field methodology and artifact analysis; site and artifact preservation; interpretation and ethics. We conclude by investigating a variety of approaches for presenting archaeology to the public. Throughout the course, we consider how best to manage archaeological resources, collaborate effectively and ethically with descendant communities, and bring the past in to the present.
